Koi batlao ke hum batlaen kya...
Some one posted this in response to previous post at AdverActive.tk. which endorses some of the observations. Looks like WOL might be exploiting hotmail.. mmmm.. how clever :P
Excuse me, but do you really think WOL is paying for that banner?!
Arey yehi to rona hai bhaiii.. Interactive advertising is NOT about banners. Any way, I stand corrected.. WOL is happy in the cock sure world that displaying banners is enuff..
Get real man! Have you ever checked the rates MSN charges for such banners? I'm sure WOL will have to sell their company to pay for one week worth of advertising.
Here's what they are doing. They are simply redirecting the image file to their own banner [:-/] I bet you were using WOL when you saw that page. Try it with another ISP. Brain here in Lahore used to do the same thing. In other words, its like the local ads that cable providers run over prime time programs.
That is exactly why the link is not changed, they can modify their servers so that the user gets their banner on hotmail (and even on MSN Messenger) but they have yet to learn how to modify the html.
So... what traffic measurement, what click-thrus? what site visits? what online support requests resulting from click thrus?
No offence, but the next time you decide to write a whole article about the wild wild web, please start with some research.
